Minutes Of the Regular Meeting & Public Hearing of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District September 12, 2022 Agenda Regular Meeting Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Members Present: Wade Gurney, Rachel Jacobson, Cindy March, Jason Schneider, and Danette Miller Absent: Administration: Mike Pardun, Superintendent, Scott Larson, Business Manager/Board Secretary, Andrea Gurney, Principal Others Present: Guests & Correspondence: Sylvia Friedrichsen Consent Items - A motion was made by Jason Schneider, Second by Rachel Jacobson, to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, and financial reports). Unanimous approval. Personnel Report a) Resignations- None b) Appointments-None c) Personnel List for 2021-22 School Year-A motion was made by Danette Miller to approve the Personnel List for the 2022-23 school year. Second by Jason Schneider Ayes: Miller, Schneider, Jacobson, and March. Abstain-W. Gurney. Motion Carried. SEA Report-None Superintendent Report a) Approval of Preschool Contract for the 2022-2023 School Year- Rachel Jacobson moved to approve the annual contract with Immanuel Lutheran Preschool. Second by Jason Schneider. Ayes: Jacobson, Schneider, Miller, March, and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. b) Approval of Crawford County Conference Board Representative-Jason Schneider moved to appoint Rachel Jacobson as the Crawford County Conference Board Representative. Second by Danette Miller. Ayes: Schneider, Miller, Jacobson, March, and W. Gurney. Motion Carried. c) Discussion on IASB Convention and Delegate Assembly – Mr. Pardun reminded board members of the November IASB Convention and delegate assembly on November 16-17, 2022. d) Second Reading of Board Policies: 203 Board of Directors Conflict of Interest; 402.2 Child Abuse Reporting; 501.14 Open Enrollment as a Sending District; 501.15 Open Enrollment as a Receiving District; 505.5 Graduation Requirements; 507.2 Administration of Medication to Students; 607.2 Student Health Services; 804.7 Radon Mitigation; and 901 Public Examination of School Records-Rachel Jacobson moved to approve the second reading of the aforementioned policies. Second by Jason Schneider. Ayes: Jacobson, Schneider, Miller, March, and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. e) Approval of Alternate Bus Routes for the 2022-2023 School Year – Rachel Jacobson moved to approve the Alternate Bus Routes for the 2022-2023 school year. Second by Danette Miller. Ayes: Jacobson, Miller, March, Schneider, and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. f) Discussion on Schleswig Calf Show Days Celebration g) Administrator Update – Mr. Pardun shared with the board that the Department of Homeland Security will be in the building on October 31, 2022, to conduct a vulnerability assessment. He also shared that Ms. Riley and the Schleswig CSD will offer piano lessons for a fee. Mrs. Gurney shared that esports are ready to go and that a Sharing Table will be setup in the commons during meals. She also shared that there are 10 middle school boys out for football and 7 middle school girls out for volleyball. Magazine sales end tomorrow and 91% of the sales goal has been reached. h) Next Regular Meeting-The next regular board meeting will be held on October 10, 2022, at 5:30 pm.
