City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting February 14, 2024 The regular meeting of the city council was held on February 14, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Abby Koenigs, Zach Schrader. Absent was Mayor Brent Streck and Joe Hogan. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve renewal of Hawkeye Bar liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve renewal of Casey’s liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve Resolution 2024-6 Fiscal Sponsorship for Mapleton Rotary’s grant application to Monona County Partners. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Zach Schrader, Jacob Zawodny, Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Benita Uhl to approve Resolution 2024-7 Fiscal Sponsorship for Mapleton Recreation Department’s grant to Monona County Partners for improvements at the little league field. Ayes: Abby Koenigs, Zach Schrader, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve authorize advertising for bids and establish bid letting time and date as April 4, 2024, 2:00 p.m. for the Airport Levee Project. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Benita Uhl to approve purchase of two tasers at the Chief’s discretion if it is most cost effective to purchase over the five year plan. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to authorize the police chief to sell the K-9 cage for $2,600.00 to the Monona County Sheriff’s Department and purchase a single person transport cage for $1,500.00 and split installation costs with the county. And also to sell the heat alarm system to another agency. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to advertise for summer mowing and also cemetery mowing. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to advertise the brome area in the paper with restrictions as discussed and accept sealed bids. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl to approve .25 per hour raise for Sean Goslar due to him receiving Certified Pool Operator License. Died for lack of second. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve a .50 per hour raise for Sean Goslar due to him receiving his Certified Pool Operator License. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Benita Uhl to set public hearing for Tax Levy for April 2, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve payment of bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: All.
