City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting April 10, 2024 The regular meeting of the city council was held on April 10, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader and Joe Hogan and Mayor Brent Streck. Absent was Abby Koenigs. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to open the public hearing regarding the plans, specifications and cost estimate of levee project. Ayes: All. Motion carried. There was no one in attendance at the meeting with comments and none had been received at city hall. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to close the public hearing. Ayes: All. Motion carried and public hearing was closed at 5:31 p.m. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve passage of Resolution 2024-06 Approving plans, specifications, form of contract, estimate of cost for construction, accepting contractor bid and authorizing submittal of grant application for the airport levee project. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Joe Hogan, Jacob Zawodny. Abstain: Zach Schrader. Absent: Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve renewal of DelCar liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve second and third reading and passage of Ordinance 482 Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Mapleton, Iowa by Amending Section 17.06 Pertaining to Compensation. Ayes: Zach Schrader, Jacob Zawodny, Joe Hogan and Benita Uhl. Absent: Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the 4th of July events planned by the events committee. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to hire Josh Perlinger as an additional part time police officer at same rate of pay as the current part time officers. Ayes: All. Motion carried. He will need two shirts, two pants and an MMPI which can be done at the county. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve the first reading of Ordinance 484 – Amending Code of Ordinances of the City of Mapleton Section 106 Collection of Solid Waste Fees effective May 1, 2024. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Joe Hogan, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader. Absent: Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny second by Joe Hogan to approve waiving the second and third reading and adoption of Ordinance 484 – Amending Code of Ordinances of the City of Mapleton Section 106 Collection of Solid Waste Fees effective May 1, 2024. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Joe Hogan, Zach Schrader. Absent: Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve accepting CHN Contract from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2029. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve payment of bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: All.
