PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED USE OF SAVE REVENUE FOR AN ATHLETIC FACILITY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT The Board of Directors of the Maple Valley-Anthon Oto Community School District, in the Counties of Monona, Woodbury, Ida and Crawford, State of Iowa, held a public hearing upon its proposed use of revenue from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund for the purpose of the following athletic facility infrastructure project: to build, furnish, and equip athletic facilities, including a new track, restrooms, and for accessibility and other site improvements. The current estimated cost of this athletic facility infrastructure project is $3,700,000. The hearing was held in the Library of MVAOCOU High School, 501 South 7th Street, Mapleton, Iowa, on Monday, August 3rd, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. MAPLE VALLEY-ANTHON OTO COMMUNITY SCHOOL Vice President Streck called the hearing to order at 7:00 PM. Approximately 15 guests were in attendance. Mr. Thelander explained the board’s plan for a new athletic facility infrastructure project at the HS track. Guests were allowed to ask questions and state their opinions. Many guests that were present, expressed their desire to make this project bigger, including making the track 8 lanes instead of the current 6. The board will take the public input into consideration and decide how to move forward. Patrons have until August 17, 2026, to turn in a petition to disagree with this plan.
