Monona County Sanitary Landfill Agency Regular Board Meeting August 11th, 2026 Chairman Keith Zediker called the meeting to order at 9:25 a.m. Present: Keith Zediker, Kirk Rose, Becky Miller, Marilyn Longlee, Ryan Clark Logan Persinger, Secretary/Board Secretary Amanda Yanak and Beau Hupke from Hoffman Agency There was no meeting in July 2026. B. Hupke from Hoffman Agency reviewed the 2026/2027 insurance policy. A. Yanak will make payment for the insurance policy, R. Clark made a motion to accept the insurance policy. B. Miller seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. B. Hupke left the meeting at 9:48 a.m. Approval of Minutes: Board meeting minutes from June 9th, 2026 were presented by A. Yanak. K. Rose made a motion to accept the minutes. R. Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. No further discussion. Treasurer’s Report: A. Yanak presented the expenditures and CD’s were reviewed for June and July. In June, expenditures equaled $72,712.36 and deposits equaled $106,841.38. In July, expenditures equaled $72,915.86 and deposits equaled $206,050.63. K. Rose made a motion to accept the financial statement and the CD’s. B. Miller seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Secretary Report: A. Yanak stated L. P. Gill sent a letter in June for a July 1st, 2026 increase. The board will revisit in November 2026. Manager’s Report: L. Persinger stated that recycling is now $30/ton, plus trucking costs. There has also been a significant amount of misuse of the recycling bins. All recycling and cardboard bins will be removed from every city within the planning zone by September 1st, 2026. B. Miller made a motion to approve employee raises for all full-time and part-time employees. The board discussed and agreed that the raises were appropriate and would take effect starting at the current pay period (August 1st, 2026). K. Rose seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. L. Persinger stated the Monona County Fair was appreciative of the donation made to assist with rebuilding efforts. L. Persinger stated the DNR conducted the Compliance Inspection of the landfill and the transfer station. Everything looked great, and there were no issues or concerns. L. Persinger stated that Habben Enterprises will be the current tire disposal company for the landfill and have taken a few loads and will continue to provide tire disposal services. Chairman K. Zediker adjourned the meeting at 10:59a.m. Next meeting is Tuesday September 8th, 2026 @ 9:30 a.m. These minutes are subject to change at the next meeting.
