MONONA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING MAY 26, 2026 The Monona County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. o'clock on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the boardroom of the courthouse in Onawa, Monona County, Iowa with Chairman Fox presiding. Other Supervisors present: Tom Brouillette and Vince Phillips. Supervisor Absent: None. Also present was Auditor Peggy A. Rolph. Motion was made by Supervisor Fox, seconded by Supervisor Phillips, to approve the agenda as Proposed or Amended. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette, and Phillips. Nays: None. Motion carried. Secondary Roads Engineer John Rasmussen was present for Secondary Roads business. Motion was made by Supervisor Brouillette, seconded by Supervisor Fox, to approve hiring a seasonal employee for Mapleton. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette, and Phillips. Nays: None. Motion carried. Motion was made by Supervisor Fox, seconded by Supervisor Phillips, to approve soliciting/accepting bids for fuel. Bid opening will be June 26, 2026. SR 26-30 The Board of Supervisors advises and consents to the County Engineer's recommendation to accept the quote from Transit Works to supply Surveying Equipment to Monona County as specified. Cable will be installed from the pole located 365 feet South of the intersection of L16 and 308th Street going East across L16 from right of way edge to right of way edge. Cable will be a minimum of 48 inches deep in Spring Valley Township (82N)(43W) section 15. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette, and Phillips. Nays: None. Motion carried. Motion was made by Supervisor Brouillette, seconded by Supervisor Fox, to approve miscellaneous utility permit for Western Iowa Power Cooperative for single phase 4/0 secondary underground road crossing. Cable will be installed from the pole located 760 feet west of the intersection of K-42 and 190th Street going North across 190th Street from right of way edge to right of way edge. Cable will be a minimum of 48 inches deep in Lincoln township (84N)(46W) sections 16 and 21. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette, and Phillips. Nays: None. Motion carried. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette, and Phillips. Nays: None. Amy Borchardt-Sick, Drainage Clerk, was present for Drainage business. Others present were Amanda Goodenow, Engineer with ISG, and Dustin Wallis, Armodus LLC. Brian Keller/Chris Beedle, Maintenance in Onawa Drainage District. Brian Keller emailed the drainage clerk this morning that Chris would not be available for todayís meeting. It was moved by Fox, seconded by Brouillette, to table the maintenance in the Onawa Drainage District. Vote on motion: Ayes: Fox, Brouillette and Phillips. Nays: None. Motion carried. Oliver Lake Lateral 1: Dustin Wallis, Armodus LLC, presented a response letter to the Notice of Defective Work letter dated May 21, 2026. The response was discussed. Amanda mentioned again that seeding is the immediate main concern to establish vegetation; also, the tubes need to be unplugged, and the channel needs to be restored as soon as possible. She also mentioned that the Nagel DD is interested in the additional 200 tons of rock that needs to be hauled off. Amanda is going to set up a site visit with ISG, Caleb Rasmussen, MOR Engineering, and Dustin Wallis, Armodus LLC, for next week on the deficiencies and how to move forward in completing this project.
