Minutes Of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District August 10, 2026 Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. Members Present: Danette Miller (arrived late), Trevor Nemitz, Ross Wood Members Absent: Rachel Jacobson Administration: Kim Buryanek, Andrea Gurney, Mallory Meyer Others Present: Jackie Palmer, Kimber Wood Jackie Palmer addressed the board about her wishes to open enroll her sons to Denison CSD. No application has been submitted, so Ms. Palmer was advised to submit an application for consideration. Consent Items – Ross Wood moved, seconded by Trevor Nemitz to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, financial reports). Motion carried 3-0. Personnel Report a) Resignations- None b) Appointments- None Danette Miller arrived at 12:06 pm. Superintendent Report a) Approve 2026-2027 Consortium Agreement with CHILD Savings Institute and Heartland Family Services – Trevor Nemitz moved, seconded by Danette Miller to approve the agreement as presented. Motion carried 4-0. g) Discuss 8th Grader’s Participation in High School Athletics – Dr. Buryanek shared a proposal created by Adam Mich, Denison CSD Activities Director. The Board expressed concern with coaches initiating conversation with students without parental consent. The Board requested increased communication regarding activities. h) Discuss Calf Show Days Food Stand – Kellie Anders has volunteered to chair the Calf Show Days Food Stand. A big thank you was expressed to Ms. Anders. i) Discuss Facebook Campaign – The Board would like to see an increased presence on Facebook. They requested quotes be gathered to find vendors who can assist with postings. j) Set Date for Work Session & Special Meeting for August 31, 2026 at 5:30 pm to Review and Approve Finance Proposals – Danette Miller moved, seconded by Trevor Nemitz to approve the Work Session and Special Meeting as presented. Motion carried 4-0. k) Reminder of Back-to School Bash on August 18, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm, Special Board Meeting & Work Session on August 31, 2026 at 5:30 pm, and Regular Board Meeting on September 14, 2026 at 5:30 pm l) Adjournment – There being no further business to come before the Board for consideration at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 12:44 pm.
