Minutes Of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District January 12, 2026 Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Members Present: Rachel Jacobson, Trevor Nemitz, Ross Wood Absent: Danette Miller Administration: Kim Buryanek, Mallory Meyer Others Present: Nicole Collins Correspondence: None Consent Items - Rachel Jacobson moved, seconded by Ross Wood to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, and financial reports). Motion carried 4-0. Personnel Report a. Resignations- None b. Appointments- None SEA Report – Nicole Collins reported the district will be celebrating Jason and Darla for Custodian Appreciation Day in January. Superintendent Report a. Adopt Resolution to Consider Continued Participation in the Instructional Support Program and Authorizing the Publication of a Notice of Time and Place of a Public Hearing – Ross Wood moved, seconded by Rachel Jacobson to adopt a resolution to consider continued participation in the instructional support program and set a public hearing to be held in the Schleswig Community School District Conference Room on February 9, 2026, at 5:30 P.M. Ayes: Nemitz, Wood, Jacobson, Gurney. Motion carried 4-0. b. Presentation on Preliminary Budget and District Financial Health Information – Mallory Meyer provided information on the district’s current financial health which include enrollment data, revenue and expenditure history, financial solvency, unspent budget authority, and tax rates. c. First Reading of 200.1 Organization of the Board of Directors, 200.1R1 Organizational Meeting Procedures, 200.2 Powers of the Board of Directors, 200.3 Responsibilities of the Board of Directors, 201 Board of Directors’ Elections, 202.1 Qualifications, 202.2 Oath of Office, 202.3 Term of Office, 202.4 Vacancies, 203 Board of Directors’ Conflict of Interest, 204 Code of Ethics of Schleswig CSD Board Policies – Rachel Jacobson moved, seconded by Trevor Nemitz to approve the policies as presented. Motion carried 4-0. d. Approve Purchase of S66 Bobcat Skid Loader – Trevor Nemitz moved, seconded by Ross Wood to approve the trade in of the district’s tractor and accessories for $5,050 and the purchase of the S66 Bobcat skid loader for $55,886.92. Motion carried 4-0. e. Update on Elementary HVAC Project – Dr. Buryanek reported Grave Construction has signed the contract and there will be a pre-construction meeting on January 30 at 9:30 am. Wade Gurney and Ross Wood will be the Board representatives for the project. f. Update on Regional Legislative Meeting – The Regional Legislative Meeting was held on January 7. Representative Steven Holt and Senator Jason Schultz attended the meeting along with area superintendents and board members. g. Administrator Update Mallory Meyer shared via written report from Mrs. Gurney: - Coach Sloth presented on January 7, sharing an anti-bullying message and promoting anyone can become a writer or author. - Dad’s Night for 3rd and 4th graders is January 29. - February 2 is an Inservice Day. - On February 9, DHS Guidance Counselors will work will 8th graders on their high school plans. h. Reminder of February 9, 2026 regular board meeting at 5:30 pm Adjournment – There being no further business to come before the Board for consideration at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 6:47 pm.
