Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District October 13, 2025 Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. Members Present: Rachel Jacobsen, Cindy March, Jason Schneider Absent: Danette Miller Administration: Kim Buryanek, Superintendent; Mallory Meyer, Business Manager/Board Secretary Others Present: Sylvia Friedrichsen Correspondence: None Consent Items – Rachel Jacobsen moved, seconded by Jason Schneider to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, and financial reports). Motion carried 4-0. Personnel Report Resignations-None Appointments-None Public Hearing on Proposal to Issue Not to Exceed $2,250,000 School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds for the Purposed of Equipping, Furnishing, Constructing and Replacing the Current Heating and Cooling System for the School District’s Existing Facilities and Related Improvements – The hearing opened at 5:32 pm. No oral or written comments were received. The hearing was closed at 5:33 pm. SEA Report – Sylvia Friedrichsen reported the Krispy Kreme fundraiser is happening now. Staff will celebrate Cafeteria Staff and Boss’ day this week. 8th grade students are working with Mrs. Stoppel on a t-shirt design. Superintendent Report a. Approve Resolution Determining to Proceed with the Issuance of Not to Exceed $2,250,000 School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds, in One or More Series, and Taking Additional Action Thereon – Jason Schneider moved, second by Rachel Jacobsen approve the resolution as presented. Ayes: March, Schneider, Jacobsen, Gurney. Nays: None. Motion carried 4-0. b. Set Special Board Meeting for Wednesday, October 29, 20255 at 5:30 pm to Consider Proposed Plans, Specifications and the Proposed Form of Contract for the Elementary School HVAC System Replacement Project in the Board Conference Room at the Schleswig Schools – Rachel Jacobsen moved, second by Jason Schneider to set meeting as presented. Motion carried 4-0. c. Approve Engagement Letter with Dorsey & Whitney, LLP for the Issuance of School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds – Jason Schneider moved, second by Rachel Jacobsen to approve the letter as presented. Motion carried 4-0. d, Update on Revenue Purpose Statement Vote on September 9, 2025 – The Board discussed the Canvass of Votes with the measure passing 33-1. e. Approve Alternate Bus Routes for the 2025-2026 School Year – Rachel Jacobsen moved, second by Jason Schneider to approve the alternate routes as presented. Motion carried 4-0. f. Motion Carried 4-0. g. Approve PowerSchool Litigation Engagement Agreement – This item was tabled. h. Discuss Certified Enrollment – Dr. Buryanek reported that the district is not yet certified, but certified enrollment is anticipated to be down by one student. i. Discuss Calf Show Days Food Stand – Mallory Meyer reported profit for the food stand was $3,946.23. j. Administrator Update – Mrs. Gurney provided a written report in her absence: October 13: Esports fall season started and will be held in-house due to the state game choice October 14: Nature Center visit; last Volleyball and Football games October 15: 5th Grade will travel to Denison for Rendezvous October 16: Last Cross-Country meet October 20: Inservice Day with CPI training for Associates and Curriculum work for Teachers October 27 & 28: Parent-Teacher Conferences October 31: Conference Comp Day – No School k. Reminder of October 29, 2025 special board meeting at 5:30 pm, November 10, 2025 regular board meeting at 5:30 pm, and November 19-20, 2025 IASB Pre-Conference & Annual Convention Adjournment-There being no further business to come before the Board for consideration at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
