Mapleton Municipal Utility – Mapleton, Iowa April 14, 2026 The regular meeting of the Mapleton Municipal Electric board was held April 14, 2026, at noon in the City Hall council chambers. Members present were Jim Else, Daniel Comes and Chris Blake. Others in attendance were Ashley Mohr, Teresa Steinhoff, Nate LeFebvre, Jayden McFarland and Mayor Brent Streck. Motion by Chris Blake, second by Daniel Comes to approve the minutes, agenda, financial statements and payment of bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Chris Blake, second by Daniel Comes to pay for a third of the cost to replace the heat pumps at city hall. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jim Else, second by Chris Blake to approve the purchase of a 36” ditching bucket for $1600.00 Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Chris Blake, second by Daniel Comes to approve helping the city with the costs associated with weed control at the sports complex and grass seed to reseed the city park. Weed control cost $1300.00 and grass seed cost $1400.00. The electric department will cover these costs this year. Motion by Daniel Comes, second by Chris Blake to approve reimbursing the city up to $30,000/year for a portion of Teresa’s wages starting July 1, 2026. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Chris Blake, second by Jim Else to approve hiring Josiah McFarland full-time at $16.00/hour, and Will Mohr part-time at $15.00/hour for summer help. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
