MAPLE VALLEY-ANTHON OTO COMMUNITY SCHOOL PUBLIC HEARING AND BOARD MEETING Monday, October 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM Middle School Library, Anthon, IA, 110 West Division Street 51004 Present: Wimmer, Streck, Kennedy, Hamann, and Schram Absent: None Others: Approximately 9 guests AGENDA FOR PUBLIC HEARING President Wimmer declared a quorum and called the public hearing to order at 7:01 PM I. PUBLIC HEARING TO PARTICIPATE IN RENEWAL OF INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT LEVY – Mr. Thelander gave a presentation on what the ISL is and the process to renew every 5 years. This is not a new tax, but a renewal of a current tax for the district. Adjourn Public Hearing – President Wimmer adjourned the hearing at 7:07 PM OCTOBER REGULAR BOARD MEETING AGENDA: I. Opening of Meeting – President Wimmer called the meeting to order and declared a quorum at 7:09PM. II. Communications A. Public Forum - none B. Correspondence - none C. MVAO Staff Presentation: Holly Phillips, Middle School Science Teacher, presented the MS Gold Club, and how we are celebrating students that meet the requirement, which include GPA, community service, and good behavior. III. Consent Agenda – Streck moved and Hamann seconded to approve the consent agenda. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Employee Resignations/Contract Modifications/Hiring – Kennedy moved and Schram seconded to approve the resignation of Vickie Mead and the hiring of Angela Conaway (para in Anthon). 5 ayes. Motion carried. B. Board resolution to extend Instruction Support Levy through FY 2031 – Schram moved and Streck seconded to approve the resolution to extend our ISL. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Wimmer, Schram, Streck, Hamann, and Kenndy. Nays: none. Motion carried C. Title Applications – Hamann moved and Kennedy seconded to approve the Title applications. 5 ayes. Motion carried. D. SBRC for Special Education Deficit – Schram moved and Kennedy seconded to approve the special education deficit SBRC request for $521,851.13. 5 ayes. Motion carried. E. SBRC English Second Language Application – Hamann moved and Streck seconded to approve the SBRC ESL application for .21 FTE. 5 ayes. Motion carried. F. Board Policy Review - none G. Winter Coaches 2025-2026 – Schram moved and Hamann seconded to approve the 25-26 winter coaches as presented. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Mr. Thelander will advertise for the open positions, which include winter cheer coach, Asst Wrestling, and Head MS Wrestling. If interested please contact Mr. Thelander to apply. H. SIAC Committee for 2025-2026 – Schram moved and Streck seconded to approve adding Jenna Comes, Jacob Zawodny, and Alice Brown to the SIAC Committee. 5 ayes. Motion carried. VI. Reports A.
