Maple Valley – Anthon Oto Community School Negotiations Committee Meeting 6:30 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 Board Room, MVAO Community School Central Office, 501 South 7th Street, Mapleton, IA 51034 The Negotiations Team representing the Maple Valley-Anthon Oto Community School District Board of Education (Wimmer, Paulsen, Thelander, and Klingensmith) met with representatives of the Maple Valley-Anthon Oto Education (Else, Handke, McElmuray, and Wright) Association, as part of the collective bargaining process, for the purpose of negotiating salary and benefits, for the 2026-2027 school year for the Professional Certified Staff. President Wimmer called the committee meeting to order at 7:05 PM. Representatives from the MVAO Education Association will share their initial proposal. – The MVAOEA proposed an increase of 8% on salaries; increases to schedule D for specific duties, and a 3% increase on all of schedule D. They also requested language changes regarding contracted days and to look at other insurance options. Representatives from the MVAO Community School District will share their initial proposal. – The MVAOCSD proposed a total package increase of 1.02%, which would equal $46,142, and accounts for the full insurance premium increase. The MVAOEA excused themselves to discuss a second offer. When they returned, they proposed the same as above but with a 6% increase on salaries. The MVAOEA and the MVAO Board Committee will meet again on 3/26/26 at 7:00PM in Mapleton. President Wimmer adjourned the meeting at 8:05 PM.
