City of Ute Regular Council Meeting Monday, September 14, 2026 – City Hall 6:00pm The Ute City Council met with Mayor Henschen in regular, open session on Monday September 14, 2026 at 6pm in the Council Chambers with the following Council Members present: Jimmy Carlson, Matt Leitz, Ryan Pithan. Sue Kelm attended by phone. Absent: Jimmy Carlson. City Staff Present: Public Works Superintendent Lonnie Carlson, City Clerk Megan Peitsch, Deputy City Clerk Denise Dunahoo. Public in Attendance: Bryce Meeves. The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Mayor Henschen. Motion by Gotto/Pithan to approve the agenda. All Ayes. MC Bryce Meeves presented on the status of the Ute Ambulance. Currently looking for more members and a service director. No action taken. Mayor Henschen gave a general update. Building permits approved: 408 S Riddle (Deck and Shed), 319 E 4th St (Moveable Shed), 204 S Lars (Windstream Boring). Rental inspection details were presented and the topic will be moved to new business at the next regular meeting for discussion. City Clerk Peitsch presented the following August financial reports: Cash Report, Bank Reconciliations, Treasurer’s Fund, Outstanding Transactions, Budget by Function, Cash Report to Budget by Function Balancing, Tax Liabilities, Monthly Check Listings, UB Reconciliation, FY 2026 Annual Financial Report (AFR), FY2026 Street Finance Report (SFR). Receipts for the month of August totaled: $42,363.20. 001 GENERAL $10,099.70; 110 ROAD USE $4,959.09; 121 LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX $3,829.33; 600 WATER $16,868.27; 601 WATER DEPOSIT $(300.00) 610 SEWER $6,906.81 Motion by Pithan/Leitz to approve the consent agenda consisting of: Approval of City Council Minutes: 8/10/2026 Regular Meeting; Approval of Sparetime Liquor License (Class LC); Approval of All Presented Financial Reports, FY26 AFR, FY26 SFR. All Ayes. MC Motion by Gotto/Leitz to approve signing the USDA and Waste System Grant Agreement for SEARCH Grant. All Ayes MC Motion by Leitz/Pithan to approve the resolution authorizing to apply for financial assistance with the USDA (well project) (RESOLUTION #2026-28). All Ayes. MC Motion by Leitz/Kelm to approve the resolution assessing unpaid nuisance mowing charges to property taxes (RESOLUTION #2026-29). Al Ayes. MC Discussion was held on current and potential nuisance abatements. Clerk will send letters to properties before any council action. August 2026 bills and payroll were reviewed. Motion by Gotto/Pithan to approve all bills and payroll as presented. All Ayes. MC Discussion was held on the tornado siren pole. No action taken. Discussion was held on potential replacement of the sidewalk in front of City Hall. No action taken at this time. Discussion was held on current trash and recycling pickup and resident concerns. Motion by Kelm/Gotto to approve contacting trash and recycling companies that service Ute for current pricing for review. All Ayes. MC Motion by Leitz/Pithan to approve a potential grant sponsor request for a Monona County Foundation grant application for the Ute Town and Country. All Ayes.
