City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting September 10, 2025 The regular meeting of the city council was held September 10, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Abby Koenigs Mayor Pro-Tem, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny and Zach Schrader. Mayor Streck attended via telephone. Absent was Joe Hogan. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Attorney Zach Greder from Crary Huff was also present. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to allow Homecoming parade on city streets on September 24 at 6:30 p.m. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Benita Uhl to approve accepting the bid from Mark Goslar for $28,000.00 for demolition and removal of the property at 201 No. 6th Street and the contractor to provide insurance. Abstain: Zach Schrader. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the purchase of a leaf blower for up to $350.00 locally if possible. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve liquor license for Slush up and Drink. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita, second by Jacob to approve the use of the walking trail for a cross country meet on September 25. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve use of the city park for the Halloween activities. Motion Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to direct the city attorney to amend the water and sewer ordinance to add $2.50 to the base usage monthly. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve 10 loads of red quartz rock 3/8 down at $22.95 per ton with the city hauling it from Sioux City. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the purchase of a camera for the airport from InControl at a cost of $2,305.00 with a $60.00 per year subscription fee. Ayes: All. Abstain: Abby Koenigs. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve the purchase of a V-plow from Western Snow Plow at a cost of $9,314.00. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to sell the fuel at the airport for $3.50 per gallon and advertise in the paper. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve payment of the bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to adjourn the meeting.
