City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting March 12, 2025 The regular meeting of the city council was held March 12, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Streck, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Joe Hogan and Abby Koenigs. Absent was Zach Schrader. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Attorney Mike Schmiedt was also present. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Benita Uhl to approve the property and liability insurance renewal as presented by Hoffman Agency. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to authorize the mayor to work with attorney Mike Schmiedt to take the necessary steps to red tag the property at 201 North 6th and remove the tenants. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to approve the purchase of a speed sign to be placed on E-16 entering into Mapleton at a cost of $2,435.00. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to charge the school $500.00 to use the pool for an end of year party and work with the managers on setting a date. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Abby Koenigs to approve Owen Zediker as the fire chief and Mapleton’s 911 representative. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to submit a claim to the insurance company due to some property damage done to the house at 804 Ring Street during tree cutting and trimming. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Benita Uhl to approve payment of the bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to adjourn the meeting.
