City of Mapleton Minutes – Regular Council Meeting June 10, 2026 The regular meeting of the city council was held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 5:30 pm. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Brent Streck, Abby Koenigs, Alan Nielsen, Travis Kaufman, Jacob Zawodny, and Joe Hogan. Also present was attorney Mike Schmiedt from Crary Huff. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawody to update the owners of the Dollar General liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Alan Nielsen, second by Abby Koenigs to renew Dollar General’s liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Joe Hogan abstained. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to renew Willow Vale’s liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Alan Nielsen to renew Mapleton Food Land liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Alan Nielsen to renew Casey’s tobacco license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the City of Mapleton’s outdoor liquor license for the 4th of July event. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to not continue the contract with Midwestern Land and Auction for 201 N 6th Street. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Alan Nielsen to approve advertising to fill the open city position just as it was previously. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to have Hamman Construction replace the concrete, if possible before the 4th of July events. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Abby Koenigs to allow the Tietsort’s to sell vegetables at roadside park. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Alan Nielsen to make payment number one for the airport fuel system to O’day Equipment, LLC. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to renew the rental inspection contract with Region XII. It expires June 30, 2026. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the use of city park and streets for 4th of July parade, events, and car show to be celebrated June 26-28. Northview Acres camp ground will be used for the carnival workers to stay in the week of June 22nd. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the employee raises as presented.
