City of Mapleton Minutes – Regular Council Meeting July 9, 2026 The regular meeting of the city council was held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 5:30 pm. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Brent Streck, Abby Koenigs, Travis Kaufman, and Joe Hogan. Jacob Zawodny arrived late at 5:41 pm. Alan Nielsen was absent. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Travis Kaufman, second by Abby Koenigs, to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to approve resolution 2026-11 for the yearly staff raises. Ayes: Abby Koenigs, Jacob Zawodny, Joe Hogan, and Travis Kaufman. Nays: none. Absent: Alan Nielsen. Motion Carried. Joe Koenigs put in an offer for $5000.00 for 201 N 6th. He wants to put a 2500-3000 sq ft shouse on the lot. It will be started as soon as the builder can fit it into his schedule. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to sell the lot at 201 N 6th Street for $5000.00 and no 10% rebate if building starts within a year. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Jacob Zawodny and Travis Kaufman volunteered to be on the hiring committee for the new city worker. Brent may attend if he is available. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs for meeting pay for the superintendent and clerk to by $50.00 per meeting. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to increase the on call pay to $150.00. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to approve Main Street Spirits tobacco permit. Ayes: All. Motion carried. The Food Pantry will be moving locations. Connie Swearingen wants the council to continue to forgive the water and sewer charges for them. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to continue to forgive the water and sewer at The Mapleton Food Pantry’s new address. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Alex Ehlers had had new equipment approved in the new budget, but he brought the quote for approval. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the purchase of suppressors and optics for the police department. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to pay the bills as listed.
