City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting January 8, 2025 The regular meeting of the city council was held January 8, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Streck, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Joe Hogan, Zach Schrader and Abby Koenigs. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve pay request #4 to Armodus on the airport levee project of $20,411.57. Ayes: Abby Koenigs, Joe Hogan, Jacob Zawodny, Benita Uhl. Abstain, Zach Schrader. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve engineers statement of completion on the airport levee project. Ayes: Abby Koenigs, Joe Hogan, Jacob Zawodny, Benita Uhl. Abstain, Zach Schrader. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to set public hearing for February 12, 2025 for updating the Urban Revitalization Plan to match with new state rules. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the health insurance renewal effective February 1, 2025. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve renewal of Hawkeye Bar liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to have the attorneys office communicate with 201 No. 6th Street property that the city plans to proceed with red tagging the property. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Zach Schrader to approve amending the city handbook to approve changes to the holiday time off by changing half day on Christmas Eve to a full day, half a day on New Year’s Eve to a full day and adding Juneteenth with the employee able to choose which day they want to use to observe the holiday. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Benita Uhl to approve payment of the bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
