City of Mapleton Minutes – Regular Council Meeting August 12, 2026 The regular meeting of the city council was held Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 5:30 pm. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Brent Streck, Abby Koenigs, Travis Kaufman, Alan Nielsen, Jacob Zawodny, and Joe Hogan. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny, to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan, to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koeings, second by Joe Hogan, to renew Main Street Spirit’s liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Alan Nielsen, second by Jacob Zawodny, to approve the update of Casey’s ownership of their liquor license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Laura Holst-Crosgrove was present to represent the MVAOCOU Student Council to ask permission to close the streets of the normal parade route for the Homecoming parade on September 16th at 5:30 pm. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs, to approve her request. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny, to approve McCall Real Estate listing the Tower Street lots. Ayes: Joe and Jacob. Nays: Abby Koenigs, Travis Kaufman, and Alan Nielsen. Motion dies. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Alan Nielsen, to have both parties list the Tower Street lots contingent on McCall’s excluding the exclusive listing wording in their proposal and that Daniel Comes from Midwestern Land and Auction is the agent representing the City. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to allow new office chairs with a max of $300.00 per chair for 3 chairs. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny, to send letters from Mike Schiemdts office to Mark Wimmer regarding 111 N 6th Street and Cheryl Bryan’s property at 112 S 5th Street. Jacob Zawodny will talk to Travis Allen about his property at 606 Main Street to find out what future plans he has. Mike Schiemdt will start the abandoned property process on 504 Elm Street.
