City of Mapleton Minutes – Regular Council Meeting - April 7, 2026 The regular meeting of the city council was held Tuesday, April 7th, 2026 at 5:30 pm. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Brent Streck, Abby Koenigs, Alan Nielsen, and Travis Kaufman. Jacob Zawodny arrived late at 5:37 pm. Joe Hogan was absent. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Attorney Mike Schmiedt from Crary Huff was present. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Travis Kaufman to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koeings, second by Alan Nielsen to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the renewal of Cenex tobacco license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koenigs to approve Cenex’s liquor license. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob to approve Dollar General’s tobacco license. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Abby Koeings to approve the calling Mike Schmiedt to start the process of selling if the grocery store does decide to purchase this lot. Two bids were submitted and discussed. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Alan Nielsen to approve the bid from Lakeport Heating and Cooling for 2 - 15 kw air handlers with 3 ton heat pumps with 10 year warranties for $11,400 each. Two bids were submitted and discussed. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve paying $800 to Steve Mauch to dig out the section of ditch where the city equipment can’t reach. Motion by Jacob Zawondy, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the bills. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Alan Nielsen to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
