CHARTER OAK-UTE COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNUAL MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2024 The Board of Directors of the Charter Oak-Ute School met on the above date in the Charter Oak Center with Directors Hadden, Weed, McAndrews, Klinker, Amunson, Superintendent Eggeling and Secretary Carstens present President Weed called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Hadden to approve the agenda for Annual Meeting. Ayes all. Motion carried. Secretary Carstens discussed the ending year reports for school year 2023-2024. It was moved by Klinker, seconded by Hadden to approve the 2023-2024 end of year reports. Ayes all. Motion carried. The board discussed the unfinished business for the 2023-2024 school year. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Hadden to appoint Cathy Carstens as the Secretary/Treasurer for the 2024-2025 school year.  Ayes all. Motion carried. President Weed gave the oath of office to Cathy Carstens. There being no further business it was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Amunson to adjourn the annual meeting at 5:13 p.m. Secretary Carstens CHARTER OAK-UTE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2024 The Board of Directors of the Charter Oak-Ute School met on the above date in the Charter Oak Center with Directors Hadden, Weed, McAndrews, Klinker, Amunson, Superintendent Eggeling and Secretary Carstens were present.   President Weed called the meeting to order at 5:14 p.m. It was moved by Klinker, seconded by Hadden to approve the agenda for the regular meeting. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Amunson to appoint Cathy Carstens as the Temporary Chairperson for the Organizational Meeting. Ayes all. Motion carried. CHARTER OAK-UTE COMMUNTIY SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2024 The Board of Directors of the Charter Oak-Ute School met on the above date in the Charter Oak Center with Directors Hadden, Weed, McAndrews, Klinker, Amunson, Superintendent Eggeling, Secretary Carstens were present. Temporary Chairperson Carstens called the meeting to order at 5:16 p.m. Temporary Chairperson Carstens asked for nominations for president. Director Weed nominated Melanie McAndrews It was moved by Klinker, seconded by Weed to cease nominations and elect Melanie McAndrews as board president. Ayes all. Motion carried. President McAndrews took over the meeting. President McAndrews asked for nominations for vice president. Director Amunson nominated Adam Hadden. It was moved by Weed, seconded by Klinker to cease nominations and elect Adam Hadden as vice president. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Amunson to set the board meeting on the Wednesday following the second Monday at 5:00 p.m. in room 103 at the Charter Ok Center. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Klinker to name the Community Bank of Ute, Iowa and the United Bank of Iowa of Charter Oak, Iowa up to 5 million each as designated depositories. Director Amunson abstained. Ayes- Klinker, Weed, Hadden, McAndrews. Motion carried. It was moved by Weed, seconded by Hadden to approve the Mapleton Press as the official publication. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Klinker to name the Ahlers and Cooney law firm as the designated attorney for the district. Ayes all. Motion carried. There being no further business it was moved by Klinker, seconded by Amunson to adjourn the meeting at 5:25 p.m. Ayes all. Motion carried. Secretary Carstens The board moved back to regular meeting. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Weed to approve the consent items as presented. Ayes all. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes of Regular Meeting on October 16, 2024 Approval of All Financial Reports Approval of All Invoices for Payment Approval of Fundraising Requests Superintendent Eggeling discussed the fall conference, ESSA designations, Veterans Day Program, hockey game, Caitlyn Clark book donated to each 2nd grader and one to library, safety grant, new van and five year projection. It was moved by Amunson, seconded by Klinker to appoint Jill Klinker to the Crawford County Conference Board Member. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Amunson to appoint Melanie McAndrews to Monona County Conference Board Member. Ayes all. Motion carried. The board tabled the SBRC Application for increased open enrollment out and EL instruction beyond 5 years. It was moved by Hadden, seconded by Weed to approve the Adjusted Special Education 2023-2024 report with the resolution of modified growth and support aide for special education in the amount of $246,992.50. Roll call vote: Klinker – Aye, Hadden – Aye, McAndrews – Aye, Weed – Aye, Amunson- Aye. Motion carried. The board discussed future agenda items: Joint Board Meeting. There being no further business it was moved by Hadden, seconded by Amunson to adjourn the meeting at 5:58 p.m. Ayes all. Motion carried.
