City of Schleswig NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON DESIGNATION OF THE SCHLESWIG URBAN RENEWAL AREA, AND ON PROPOSED URBAN RENEWAL PLAN AND PROJECT Notice Is Hereby Given. That at 7:00 p.m., at the City Hall, Schleswig, lowa, on October 14, 2024 the City Council of the City of Schleswig, lowa (the "City") will hold a public hearing on the question of designating as the Schleswig Urban Renewal Area (the "Urban Renewal Area"), pursuant to Chapter 403 of the Code of lowa, certain real property described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the easterly right-of-way line of Highway 59 and Ash Road thence south along the easterly right-of-way line of Highway 59 to its intersection with the northerly right-of-way line of Willow Road/E Avenue thence east along the northerly of right-of-way line of Willow Road/E Avenue to its intersection with the westerly right-of-way line of 6th Street thence north along the westerly right-of-way line of 6th Street to its intersection with the southerly right- of-way line of Date Street thence west along the southerly right-of-way line of Date Street to its intersection with the easterly right-of-way line of its intersection with 7th Street thence north along the easterly right-of-way line of 7th Street to its intersection with the southerly right-of-way line Cedar Street thence east along the southerly right-of-way line Cedar Street to its intersection with the easterly right-of-way line of 8th Street thence north along the casterly right-of-way line of 8th Street to its intersection with the northerly right-of-way line of Ash Road thence west along the northerly right-of-way line of Ash Road to the point of the beginning. The subject matter of the public hearing will also include a proposed urban renewal plan and project for the Urban Renewal Area identified above, pursuant to Chapter 403, Code of Iowa, a copy of which plan is on file for public inspection in the office of the City Clerk. The general scope of the proposed urban renewal plan (the "Plan"), as more specifically described therein, includes the following: Eliminating and preventing conditions of blight; increasing the tax base and promoting economic growth in the City by encouraging economic development, constructing necessary public improvements and assisting private enterprise through tax increment financing incentives in the Urban Renewal Area. The initial project to be undertaken under the Plan will consist of using tax increment financing to pay the costs constructing storm water drainage improvements in order to alleviate blighted conditions in the Urban Renewal Area.
