NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS OF STATE EQUALIZATION ORDERS Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 441.49, the Iowa Department of Revenue has notified the Monona County Auditor of final percentage adjustments to the 2025 valuations of real property in Monona County. Equalization occurs on an entire class of property, not on an individual property, and occurs on an assessing jurisdiction basis and not on a statewide basis. The adjustments are as follows: -Increase of 11% on Agricultural Land and Structures, Excluding Residential Dwellings on Agricultural Realty, Outside and Within Incorporated Cities -Increase of 8% on Commercial Realty, Excluding Machinery and Equipment Referred to in Iowa Code Chapter 427A, Outside and Within Incorporated Cities -No Adjustment for Residential Realty, Including Residential Dwellings on Agricultural Realty, Outside and Within Incorporated Cities In addition, the Monona County Assessor has been granted authorization by the Department of Revenue to use an approved method as developed by the Iowa Department of Revenue utilizing productivity over a five-year period. Assessed values are equalized by the Iowa Department of Revenue every two years. Local taxing authorities determine the final tax levies and may reduce property tax rates to compensate for any increase in valuation due to equalization. If you are not satisfied that your assessment as adjusted by the equalization order is correct, you may file a protest against such assessment with the board of review on or after October 9 and including October 31.
