LEGAL NOTICE Iowa Code 273.8 – Area Education Agency Board of Directors Notice is hereby given that Northwest AEA will be accepting Statement of Candidacy submissions for the election of five AEA board members. The director district board positions open for election are: District 1 - 4-Year Term Boyden-Hull, Central Lyon, George-Little Rock, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Rock Valley, Sheldon, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Center, West Lyon. District 2 - 2-Year Term Akron-Westfield, Cherokee, Le Mars, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, MOC-Floyd Valley, Remsen-Union, South O’Brien, West Sioux. District 3 - 2-Year Term Ar-We-Va, Charter Oak-Ute, Denison, Galva-Holstein, Hinton, Kingsley-Pierson, Maple Valley-Anthon Oto, OABCIG, River Valley, Schleswig, West Monona, Westwood, Whiting, Woodbury Central. The board of directors of an Area Education Agency shall be elected by a vote of the members of the boards of directors of the local school districts located within the director district. The member of the Area Education Agency board to be elected may be a member of a local school district board of directors and shall be an elector and a resident of the director district, but shall not be a school district employee. A member of an area education agency board shall not serve on the board of directors of a merged area. A candidate for election to the area education agency board shall file a statement of candidacy with the Northwest AEA board secretary no later than October 15, 2025. The statement of candidacy form is available at the school board offices in the corresponding Director District and the administrative office of the Northwest AEA, 5800 Discovery Blvd., Sioux City, Iowa, 51111. Board members shall serve on the Northwest AEA Board of Directors beginning the first regular meeting of December 2025.
