City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting - January 10, 2024 The regular meeting of the city council was held on January 10, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Mayor Brent Streck, Benita Uhl, Joe Hogan, Jacob Zawodny, Abby Koenigs, Zach Schrader. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Abby Koenigs to approve minutes from the previous meetings with a change noted by Benita that she voted no for the water permits. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Benita Uhl to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to approve passage of Resolution 2024-01 Appointing City Clerk and City Attorney. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Abby Koenigs, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader and Joe Hogan. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve passage of Resolution 2024-02 Regarding Fiscal Policies. Ayes: Abby Koenigs, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader and Joe Hogan. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Benita Uhl to approve passage of Resolution 2024-03 Records Custodian. Ayes: Benita Uhl, Joe Hogan, Abby Koenigs, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Zach Schrader to approve passage of Resolution 2024-04 Designating Depositories. Ayes: Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader, Benita Uhl, Abby Koenigs and Joe Hogan. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the health insurance renewal effective February 1, 2024 as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the newly updated Gas Operation and Maintenance Plan. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to enter in closed session per Iowa Code Section 21.5(c) regarding police. Ayes: All. Motion carried and closed session began at 5:58 p.m. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Joe Hogan to end closed session. Ayes: All. Motion carried and closed session ended at 6:19 p.m. Motion by Abby Koenigs, second by Joe Hogan to direct the city attorney to respond to a letter from Andrew Miller dated December 7, 2023 pursuant to closed session.
