CHARTER OAK-UTE COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR HEARING JUNE 28, 2023 The Board of Directors of the Charter Oak-Ute School met on the above date in the Charter Oak Center with Directors Weed, Schultz, McAndrews, Klinker, Goslar, Superintendent Eggeling and Secretary Carstens present. Also present via zoom was Matt Basye and Patrick Schnell with FEH Architects. President Weed called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Klinker to approve the Regular Meeting Agenda as presented. Ayes all. Motion carried. Patrick Schnell and Matt Basye discussed the HVAC and restrooms projects. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by McAndrews to approve the proposed plans, specifications and the proposed form of contract for the HVAC RETROFIT AND RESTROOM RENOVATIONS project. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Klinker, seconded by Schultz to set the Bid Time, Date and Place on the HVAC RETROFIT AND RESTROOM RENOVATIONS project for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday July 25, 2023 in Room 103 at the Charter Oak School. Bids will then be publicly opened in the same location. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Klinker to set the Public Hearing on the HVAC RETROFIT AND RESTROOM RENOVATIONS project for 4:00 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 in Room 103 at the Charter Oak School. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Goslar to appoint Cathy Carstens as the Equity Coordinator. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by McAndrews to appoint Jim Staley as the Level I Investigator with Adam Eggeling as the Alternative and to appoint the Crawford County Sheriff as the Level II Investigator. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by Goslar to approve the student handbook. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Goslar to approve the transfer of the interest balance in activity fund to Odyssey of the Mind and also transfer the elementary stand to clear out the Odyssey of the Mind and any left to transfer to elementary and junior high fund. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by McAndrews to approve the shared ELL instructor with Denison Community Schools. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by Goslar to enter into agreement with New Coop for 9,000 gallons of propane at $1.47 a gallon. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Goslar to approve the 3.79% increase for the administrative staff. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by McAndrews to approve the purchase of PD from Amplify. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by Goslar to approve the equipment insurance for a one year contract. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Goslar to approve the JH track coach resignation from Dan Steele. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by McAndrews, seconded by Schultz to offer Leila Kuhlmann the ELA Middle School Teacher contract for the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year in the amount of $24,000.00. Ayes all. Motion carried. It was moved by Schultz, seconded by McAndrews to offer Crysta Gierstorf the ELA Middle School Teacher contract for the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year in the amount of $21,600.00 pending certification. Ayes all. Motion carried. The board discussed future action items. The board gave the superintendent his evaluation. There being no further business, it was moved by Schultz, seconded by Goslar to adjourn the meeting at 6:06 p.m. Ayes all. Motion carried.
