Notice The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) FY 2026 Transportation Planning Work Program (TPWP) is now open to public comment and review. The TPWP is a document prepared annually by SIMPCO transportation planning staff for the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The TPWP describes the transportation planning activities staff will undertake during the next fiscal year. Each major activity is described in detail to include the task objective, previous work, project description, future products, and budget information on each activity. The TPWP is developed by SIMPCO transportation planning staff with input from the Transportation Technical Committee and the Policy Board of the MPO. The Iowa Department of Transportation (IA DOT), the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD DOT) and the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NE DOT) also provide input in the development of the TPWP. The TPWP is required by federal law and its purpose is to serve as a guiding document of information addressing current and projected transportation needs for the MPO from a planning perspective. The MPO is in the process of drafting FY 2026 TPWP, with approval scheduled for May 8, 2025. We are asking that all City Halls and County Courthouses within the MPO planning area post this notice for public viewing.
