Alan Harve Sedore was born on June 28, 1949, the eldest child of LaVerne Martin and Roberta Madeline (Allison) Sedore in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was dedicated and baptized into the First Christian Church of Fairfield, Iowa. He graduated with the class of 1967 in Fairfield. He then attended Iowa State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business in 1971.

Al married Phyllis Miller on June 11, 1971, at the Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames. After their honeymoon, the couple made their home in Schleswig and were blessed with two children, Jill and Mark.

Al spent his entire working career at Farmer's State Bank, now known as Bank Iowa. Prior to retirement in 2014, he worked as a loan officer, as well as Vice President of the Schleswig branch.

Al was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. He was an active member of the community and spent several years serving on the Horn Memorial Hospital Board, church council, Schleswig Community Club, Schleswig Volunteer Fire Department for over 24 years, Izaak Walton League, Jaycees and a variety of other community and church organizations. He enjoyed the years he volunteered teaching Sunday school.

Al and Phyllis enjoyed bowling together for many years, as well as dancing as often as they could. He enjoyed many fishing trips to the Dakotas and Canada with good friends. He also loved being on the golf course. Reading, watching westerns and playing Euchre were some of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed socializing and watching sports, especially Iowa State.

Above all he cherished his time with family and was a proud husband, dad and grandpa. He always made time for his children by often playing with them during lunch and after work. Al had a laid-back personality, often saying "not to worry."

Alan passed away surrounded by his family on January 27, 2023, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove at the age of 73.
